Summer at the Minimal Ranch

Vespera's journey to Silvershade's ranch was wonderfully pleasant. The beautiful island with its lush vegetation made her feel like she was on a tropical vacation! As a skilled adventurer, though, she knew that she needed to focus on the task at hand -- following the map that Barnaby Scrapworth had drawn up for her. 

Vespera's Raylen, River, and their two minimal companions, Henrietta the Phoehen and Dew the Iricampus, dutifully scouted ahead for her. Each of them checked in regularly to help her orient herself in the wilderness. Despite the scenic journey, Vespera could not help but feel relief washing over her when she spotted the ranch in the distance, exactly where Barnaby said it would be. He was a curious fellow, but reliable!

As she approached the ranch, Vespera heard the minimals before she ever laid eyes on one -- they were a rambunctious bunch and chased one another in the pasture. Vespera smiled warmly, it was so sweet to see minimals she recognized from Merick's shop so happily playing together! Dew and Henrietta flew ahead towards the minimals and seemed to make new friends. River remained protectively perched on Vespera's shoulder.

Vespera circled the ranch house but there was no sign of Silvershade and when she called out, she got no response. Where could Silvershade be?

Suddenly, River raised their wings and let out a hiss. Startled, Vespera looked to her left and saw two fluttering dragon-like minimals slowly circling one another in the most mesmerizing fashion.

Vespera could not bring herself to look away from the slow, methodical and poetic movement of the beautiful pair. Despite knowing that the dance of the Grimmoire and Luminara could entrance adventurers, she could not help but watch them. Though harmless, those entranced tend to find that several minutes will have gone by out of no where.

River fussed again, pecking Vespera lightly on her cheek, breaking the moment.

"Thank you, love. As much as I wouldn't mind watching these two all day, we have a person to find!"

Vespera and River circled around to the front of the house only to find a post by the front door.

"Whelp," Vespera exclaimed, glancing at River, "Should we wait here or go find this fishing location?" River squawked and Vespera understood. "Fishing it is! Let's go find Silvershade!" With that, she called Dew and Henrietta and set off towards the beach.

Sunny Lani Archipelagos

Vespera moored her ship in the breezy port of the Lani Archipelagos with ease. The calm harbor with its tranquil waters was the perfect invitation to seafaring visitors looking to engage with the local inhabitants.

The letter from Silvershade didn't provide much details to go off of, so Vespera and her crew decided to go their separate ways. Everyone appeared to be in a light hearted mood, and the sun kissed beaches of the islands called out to many of them. Yet, Vespera found herself drawn to the vibrant local marketplace -- it was sure to be filled with travelers and locals alike, with news and informational tidbits waiting to be unearthed by a simple conversation. 

Vespera slowly meandered through the marketplace, admiring the colorful goods and wares in each stall, keenly aware of her surroundings and the ongoing chatter. Never did she expect to hear her name called -- "Vespera!!" She turned and spotted a man waving from a far stall and made her way over.

"The name is Barnaby Scrapworth, miss! I've heard about you and your travels. Your discovery of  sanDust and the way you tamed the Grusim has been the talk of the marketplace recently!"

Vespera chuckled, "Thank you, I couldn't have done it without the community, and Vixon played just as great of a part in that adventure!"

"Well, I'm so glad I could catch you. After hearing about  sanDust, I dived head first into exploring its uses and properties. I am thrilled to say -- I discovered a way to convert most items into  sanDust!" Scrapworth explained in an excited rush. 

Vespera clutched her  sanDust pouch. Along with the rest of the community, she had been completing quests and playing games in order to save up  sanDust to acquire Grusim Figurines. How far had the stories of her exploits and of sanDust traveled? Could  sanDust be used as a currency beyond Grusim taming? Would the people of Santae be open to accepting  sanDust as currency? Her mind ran wild at the possibilities. 

She snapped back to to the conversation, and examined Barnaby's stall closely, noticing that he had rows and rows of  sanDust jars on all of the shelves behind him. "How did you acquire so much  sanDust?" she asked.

"Well, I've converted many, many items in order to study how this phenomenon works! Through my experiments, I have confirmed that rarer items tend to have a higher concentration of  sanDust!" Barnaby exclaimed, before following up with, "It seems Divine and Mythic items cannot be converted however. I suppose it is due to their scarcity?"

Vespera nodded understandably and before she had a chance to respond, Barnaby noticed the jelly blob in the parcel she had been carrying. "Ahh, one of those weird jelly eggs that have been turning up around these parts recently! I keep hearing about those from the traders that come through here!".

"Oh!" Vespera exclaimed, "if you know about these, perhaps you would know who Silvershade is? I'm looking for them!". Vespera quickly unfolded the letter and handed it to Barnaby.

He gave it a quick glance before replying "Ahh, yes I know of Silvershade! They are a rancher that comes to the marketplace often for supplies. You're in luck! Their ranch isn't far from here, I can give you directions!"

Barnaby scrawled down directions onto a scrap paper before handing it to Vespera. "Sorry! I dont have any other belongings - they are all turned into  sanDust! Silvershade lives on the outskirts of Lani Archipelagos - follow these directions and you should be there in just a couple of days! You might find some other interesting locations on the way!"

Vespera thanked Barnaby for his help and then started heading in the direction he pointed. She will definitely share the location of Barnaby's stall with the other adventurers of Santae so they can explore and convert their items to  sanDust too!

Barnaby Scrapworth has opened his SanDust Exchange stall!

Trade items that you no longer want and receive  sanDust in exchange. The amount of  sanDust that you receive correlates with the rarity of the item, so rarer items will give more  sanDust!

Scrapworth has limited time to convert everyone's goods, so there is currently a limit of 25 item trade ins per hour.

For your convenience, you can access the SanDust Exchange directly through the Explore tab!

It was a beautiful day, and things were getting back to normal for Vespera as she stood outside her store, happily selling Drava figurines. Her customers chatted and laughed, bringing a sense of normalcy and peace she hadn't felt in a long time.

Returning inside, Vespera noticed a parcel on her desk. Curious, she opened it and found a letter inside:

Vespera frowned. "Who is Silvershade?" She muttered, then looked into the parcel and gasped. There was a jelly-like blob inside. She picked it up, and her Raylen, River, immediately flew over and became very interested.

"What could this be?" Vespera wondered aloud. "Is it an... egg?"

She placed the jelly blob on the table, and to her astonishment, River tried to sit on it. "What are you doing?" Vespera chuckled but then ignored the behavior, assuming it was due to River's bird instincts.

Realizing the importance of this discovery, Vespera gathered her minimals. "I need to investigate this," she said with determination. Thankfully, the citizens of Santae adored Vespera and would never consider stealing from her. Confident in their trustworthiness, she decided to leave her store unattended for the time being.

With a final glance back, she set off toward the Lani Archipelagos, ready for another adventure.
